Nap & Rinse Carpet Cleaning

You are not paying by the room. You are paying by the floor.

Most outfits quote three rooms for a flat price and then find out your living room is the size of two of them. So here is a whole house drawn honestly: every room is shown at its real share of the carpet, and the price under it is that area at nineteen cents a square foot.

Big rooms look big. Halls look like nothing, because they are nothing. The stairs are the exception and they are drawn wrong on purpose.

The staircase is the one thing in the house that is nothing on a floor plan and half the labour on the day. Thirteen treads is about fifty minutes on hands and knees with a hand tool. Three dollars a tread is what that is worth and we would rather print it than bury it in a room count.

Nineteen cents a foot, and here is what that includes

Pre-vacuum, spot treatment, hot water extraction with a truck mounted unit, and a rinse pass with nothing left in the fibre. No shampoo, no encapsulation, no bonnet on residential carpet. Furniture up to two seats a room gets moved and put back on blocks.

Minimum charge is $95, which is roughly five hundred square feet. Below that the drive costs more than the job does and we would be pretending otherwise.

1,180 square feet of carpet plus the stairs comes to $496. Three and a half hours in the house. One van, two people.

Those hours assume the windows are cracked and the air is moving. In August with the house shut up, add half again to every line.

Four jobs we turn down

  1. Carpet with a delaminated backing. If the top layer has separated from the mesh underneath, extraction will finish it. You will have paid us to ruin it. We test a corner before the hose comes off the van and we will stop there.
  2. Cat urine, guaranteed. We will clean it and it will smell better. Anything that soaked into the pad is under the carpet and no amount of surface work reaches it. Anybody promising a guarantee on that is selling you the second appointment.
  3. Wool and antique rugs. Wrong machine, wrong chemistry, wrong temperature. There is a rug plant in the city that does it properly and we will give you the number rather than have a go.
  4. Filtration lines along the skirting. The grey shadow where the carpet meets the wall is soot pulled through the fibre by air movement. It lifts a little. It does not come out. We will not charge you extra to try.

We would rather tell you no on the phone than take the money and disappoint you in your own living room.

Getting a number out of us

Pace the rooms you want done, heel to toe, and count. That gets you close enough. Tell us those numbers and we will tell you the price before anybody drives anywhere.
